University Resources
We've tried to be thorough in compiling the resources on this page but should we have missed something
please feel free to
contact us by email to inform us of any omission.
Office of Research Support Services
The Office of Research Support Services administers Graduate School internal faculty research
grant programs, including Grant-in-Aid of Research, Artistry, and Scholarship Program (GIA),
Faculty Summer Research Fellowship (FSR) and McKnight Summer Fellowships, and Distinguished Women's
Scholar Award.
Additionally, Research Support Services coordinates the internal selection of
faculty pre-proposals for submission to a number of private foundation and federal agency competitive
programs for which the number of nominations submitted by the University of Minnesota are restricted.
Program announcements, application forms and exemplary proposals from previous years are available
on our web site.
Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) Grant: Development of Intercollegiate Research Proposals and Networks
To develop preliminary networks of interdisciplinary or interscholastic teams, to increase faculty members knowledge of sponsors' interdisciplinary and strategic funding directions, and to enable faculty members to respond more quickly and collaboratively to emerging directions in research
Office of Measurement Services (OMS)
The Office of Measurement Services (OMS) works with investigators to build and execute world-class evaluations for grants and
grant proposals. OMS provides complete evaluation solutions from design to implementation and execution to meet the accountability
needs required by funding organizations. Our project teams focus on evaluation that enables principal investigators to focus on
the science and project management of the grant.
In addition to performing training grant evaluation within the University of Minnesota, OMS works with external investigators
using technology solutions to provide cost-effective solutions. Utilizing the latest technologies and innovative techniques,
OMS is able to remotely plan and administer evaluations. We support a variety of remote conferencing technologies (video, audio, etc.)
to minimize any barriers in communication and facilitate natural correspondence.
For those who have plans to write larger-sized grants or who will be including an evaluation
component into the budget of the grant to conduct a more formal evaluation the
Office of Measurement Services
(OMS) will help the grant writer design and write a more customized pre-proposal and full proposal content
to include a formal evaluation. OMS is also available to be a partner in evaluation by writing customized
instruments and performing the evaluation once the grant has been funded. Many granting agencies such
as the NSF will provide direct support for evaluation.
Postdoctoral Association (PDA)
The mission of the University of Minnesota Postdoctoral Association is to
improve the quality of the postdoctoral experience and to facilitate the
long-term success of our members.
The Postdoctoral Association provides: professional development programs, career work shops, job performance evaluation procedures and other resources
that may be usefull to PIs. pda@umn.edu
